Overview:

At times, Webgility may encounter issues while connecting with QuickBooks, running the scheduler, or connecting an add-on computer. These problems are often caused by interference from antivirus software. To resolve this, you need to whitelist or add exceptions for Webgility and Scheduler apps in your antivirus software.

Since antivirus settings vary by brand, the process may look a little different depending on your software. However, the general steps are as follows:

General Steps to Add Exceptions:

  1. Open Antivirus Settings:

    • Locate your antivirus icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen).

    • Right-click on the icon and access the "Settings" or "Preferences" menu.

  2. Find the Exceptions or Whitelist Section:

    • Look for an option labeled “Exclusions,” “Exceptions,” or “Whitelist.”

  3. Add the Following Webgility Files to the Exception List:

    • C:\Webgility\UnifyEnterprise\Unify.exe

    • C:\Webgility\UnifyEnterprise\UnifyScheduler.exe

    • C:\Webgility\UnifyEnterprise\UnifySchedulerService.exe

  4. Restart the Computer:

    • Once you've added the exceptions, restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.

Adding Exceptions for Popular Antivirus Software:

Norton:

  • Open Norton and go to "Settings."

  • Click "Antivirus" and navigate to the "Scans and Risks" tab.

  • Scroll down to "Exclusions" and add the Webgility files listed above.

McAfee:

  • Open McAfee and go to "Real-Time Scanning."

  • Click on "Excluded Files" and add the Webgility files from your computer.

Kaspersky:

  • Open Kaspersky and go to "Settings."

  • Under "Threats and Exclusions," select "Manage Exclusions" and add the Webgility files.

Webroot:

  • Open Webroot SecureAnywhere.

  • Click the Gear icon next to "PC Security."

  • Go to the "Block/Allow Files" tab.

  • Click "Add File" and browse to select the Webgility files listed above.

  • Mark the Webgility files as "Allow" to whitelist them.

Note: If you're unsure of how to navigate your antivirus settings or don’t have the necessary permissions, check with your IT administrator or contact your antivirus provider for further assistance.

After adding the exceptions, Webgility should be able to connect and run smoothly without interference from your antivirus software.
