How to Resolve Sales Tax Rates Not Appearing in Webgility Online
If the Sales Tax item is not appearing in Webgility Online while processing orders, the issue may be related to the sales tax rates configuration in Webgility Online. This article explains how to verify or setup new sales tax rates in QuickBooks Online and to configure them in Webgility Online.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
- Access to the correct QuickBooks Online company.
- Access to your Webgility Online account.
- The required permissions to update QuickBooks Products and Services and Webgility Online settings.
- The affected order number, if you are troubleshooting a specific order.
Step 1:
A) Verify the Sales Tax Item in QuickBooks Online
Webgility Online retrieves the applicable item from QuickBooks Online. Therefore, the first step is to confirm that the required sales-tax item exists in QuickBooks.
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
- Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Sales Tax, then Sales tax settings
- Search for the sales-tax rate you want to use.
- Confirm that the item exists and is available for use.
B) If the Sales Tax Item Does Not Exist
If you cannot find the required item in QuickBooks Online then create one:

Step 2: Verify the Sales Tax Setting in Webgility Online
Once you have confirmed that the required item exists in QuickBooks Online, verify that Webgility Online is configured to use the correct item.

Open Webgility Online.

Go to Sync Settings > Sales Tax configuration.

Enable the toggle for recording tax.

Select how to record sales tax and then the appropriate QuickBooks Online sales tax rate

Save the changes.

Note: A newly created or updated QuickBooks sales tax rate may not appear in Webgility Online immediately. Kindly refresh the accounting data in Webgility Online and check the setting again.

Step 3: Retry posting of the affected order
After configuring the correct sales-tax rate:
- Navigate to the required tab New orders/Error
- Select the order and click on Post to QuickBooks.
- Verify that the sales-tax amount is now being processed correctly on the QuickBooks Online Transaction.
