Fix FedEx and Add-On Computer Connection Issues in Webgility Desktop

If you use Webgility Desktop on an add-on computer for shipping or other tasks, the add-on must connect to the Webgility database on the primary computer. If the database connection works but FedEx labels or QuickBooks do not, the issue may be related to shipping permissions or the QuickBooks connection.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • The primary and add-on computers are connected to the same local network.
  • Webgility Desktop is installed on both computers.
  • QuickBooks Desktop is installed and configured on the computers that need to access it.

Resolution:

Step 1: Fix the Webgility database connection

If the add-on computer cannot find the Webgility database:

  1. On both computers, open C:\Webgility\UnifyEnterprise.
  2. Right-click WgFirewall.exe and select Run as administrator.
  3. On the add-on computer, open Webgility Desktop.
  4. Select Connect to an existing SQL Server.
  5. Select the SQL Server for the primary computer. If it is not listed, select Browse for more.
  6. Use SQL Server Authentication and enter the SQL credentials configured for your Webgility database.

For the complete connection and firewall troubleshooting process, see:
Unable to Connect Add-On Computer with SQL Database

If the add-on still cannot locate the database, see:
How to Troubleshoot Webgility Desktop Add-On Computer Connection Issue

Step 2: Enable FedEx shipping on the add-on

After the add-on successfully connects to the Webgility database, make sure shipping is enabled for the add-on user.

From the primary Webgility Desktop:

Profile > Manage Users > Select the add-on user > Enable Shipping

Then log in to Webgility using the add-on user and configure the FedEx printer and label settings.

For detailed instructions, see:
Enable Shipping on an Add-On Machine

If FedEx is connected but labels are not printing correctly, see:
Label Printing Issues

Step 3: Verify the QuickBooks connection

If the add-on connects to Webgility but cannot post orders to QuickBooks:

  1. Open Webgility Desktop on the add-on computer.
  2. Go to Connections > Accounting/POS/ERP > Edit Connection.
  3. Verify that the correct QuickBooks company file and path are selected.
  4. Click Test QuickBooks Connection.

The QuickBooks company file path configured in Webgility must match the actual location of the company file. You can verify the path in QuickBooks by pressing F2 or Ctrl + 1 and checking the Company File Location.
