Here is your step-by-step guide to confirm the correct QuickBooks company file and ensure a successful connection with Webgility.

Causes of Issues

  • Mismatched Company File Location: Webgility may attempt to connect to a different file than the one open in QuickBooks.

  • Product Info Window Open: Leaving the Product Information window open may block Webgility from reconnecting.

  • QuickBooks Not in Single-User Mode: Multi-user mode can sometimes cause permission conflicts.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Launch QuickBooks and Open Company File

Open QuickBooks Desktop and log in to the correct Company File as the Admin user.

Make sure QuickBooks is in Single-User Mode to allow full access.

2. Confirm the Company File Name and Location

Press F2 or Ctrl + 1 to open the Product Information window in QuickBooks.
Find the Company File Location listed in the window.


Compare this file path with the one configured in Webgility.

3. Match File Location in Webgility

If the file path in Webgility does not match the one shown in QuickBooks:

  • Copy the correct Company File Location from QuickBooks.

  • Paste this path into Webgility's QuickBooks Connection Settings.

Note: Be sure to close the Product Information window before trying to reconnect.

4. Reconnect and Test the Connection

Open Webgility Desktop.
