Error Code: 6000 - Business validation error: You need to activate this item before updating the quantity

Error Issue:

When you try to update the quantity of an item in QuickBooks Online, you might see an error saying the item needs to be activated. This happens if the item is marked as inactive.

How to Fix It:

1). Go to QuickBooks Online:

  1. Open QuickBooks Online and log in to your account.

2). Find Your Items:

  1. Click the (Gear) icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Choose Products and Services from the menu.

3). Show Inactive Items:

a. Click the Filter icon.

b. In the Status dropdown menu, choose Inactive.

c. Click Apply.

4). Activate the Item:

a. Find the item you want to reactivate.

b. In the Action column next to it, click Make Active.

5). Save Changes:

a. Make sure your changes are saved, so the item is now active.

Setting Up Webgility Online to Avoid This Issue

To stop this problem from happening again, you can set Webgility Online to automatically activate the inactive items when you post orders:

1). Log in to Webgility Online:

a. Login to your Webgility Online account.

2). Go to Settings:

a. Click on Sync Settings.

b. Choose Products.

3). Turn On Automatic Activation:

a. Look for the option that says Change Inactive items to active when posting orders under products.


b. Toggle the key to the right side to turn this feature on.


4). Save Your Settings:

a. Click Save to make sure your changes are applied.
