Inventory Error When Posting to QuickBooks Desktop

The error occurs when an order does not post to QuickBooks Desktop.


On the date and time of the Order, QuickBooks Desktop did not have inventory available. If enough inventory is currently available, the quantity was added to QuickBooks Desktop after the Order date.


  • Option 1

    In QuickBooks Desktop, create a quantity adjustment prior to the date of the order to indicate enough inventory was available at the time of the order. A corresponding adjustment for the current date may need to be added to prevent artificial inflation of inventory.

    For the Adjustment Account, we recommend using an Inventory Adjustment account.

  • Option 2

    In Webgility, set the order date to a date when the quantity was available in QuickBooks Desktop.
