Overview
UPS has updated its SurePost service due to changes in the USPS Parcel Select program. These changes impact shipping to certain locations. Webgility users should be aware of these updates to ensure smooth shipping operations.
Key Updates to UPS SurePost
Continued Service:
UPS SurePost remains available for shipping to physical residential addresses in the contiguous 48 states.
Service Limitations:
SurePost no longer supports shipments to:
PO Boxes, APO/FPO/DPO addresses
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories
Any SurePost packages sent to these destinations will be returned to the sender at origin.
Alternatives to UPS SurePost
If you need to ship to locations no longer supported by SurePost, consider the following options:
For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories:
Use UPS Ground or Air services for these shipments.
For PO Boxes, APO/FPO/DPO Addresses:
Ship directly through the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Consider UPS Mail Innovations (requires a contractual agreement with UPS).
Important Note for Webgility Users
Webgility does not currently support UPS Mail Innovations.
Handling Returned SurePost Packages
If a SurePost package is returned to the sender, here’s why and what you can do:
For Shipments to PO Boxes, APO/FPO Addresses:
The package was returned because SurePost no longer supports these destinations.
Future shipments should be handled directly through USPS.
For Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territories:
The package was returned because the SurePost service is no longer available for these locations.
Use UPS Ground or Air services for future shipments.
