How to Fix Stamps.com Label Printing Issues in Webgility Desktop

Troubleshoot issues where Stamps.com labels generate and charge successfully in Webgility Desktop but fail to print or save.

Problem Description

If Webgility Desktop displays a success message but the shipping label does not print, review the label image type configured for Stamps.com. The confirmed fix is specific to this case; it is not a guarantee that every label-printing issue has the same cause.

Root cause

Check the label image type to see if it is set to PDF. Changing it to PNG allows the label to print successfully because Labels can definitely be generated and printed from a PDF, but traditional thermal label printers cannot understand a PDF file directly.

Resolution steps
1. Open the Stamps.com shipping settings

For the standard Webgility Desktop configuration:

  1. Open Webgility Desktop.
  2. Navigate to Connections > Shipping > Shipping Settings.
  3. Locate Stamps.com.
  4. Open its label and printer configuration.

For an add-on Webgility Desktop user, the published troubleshooting article gives this alternate path:

Shipping > connected shipping processor (Stamps) > Printer and Labels.

Use the path appropriate to the installation. Do not assume both menus will appear.

2. Change the label image type to PNG

In the Stamps.com label settings:

  1. Confirm that the intended label printer is selected.
  2. Review the current label image type.
  3. Change PDF to PNG.
  4. Review the label layout and paper size to ensure they match the intended output.

3. Save the configuration

Click Save & Continue to retain the updated shipping settings.

The Stamps.com integration guide documents selecting the printer and label image type before saving. The support note does not provide a click-by-click session transcript, so these navigation details come from the published guide rather than an inferred sequence of actions by the agent.

4. Test label printing through Webgility Desktop

Please process the shipping label again to verify that the issue has been resolved successfully.
