This article helps Webgility Desktop users troubleshoot issues where Shopify POS sales tax rates are not recording correctly in QuickBooks Desktop. It provides step-by-step procedures to identify the root cause of tax discrepancies and offers guidance to ensure accurate tax mapping and order posting between platforms.
Verify Shipping Address Presence
- In Shopify POS, open Orders.
- Check for the presence of a complete shipping address (including street, city, state, and ZIP code).
- If the address is missing or incomplete, update the order with accurate customer shipping details.
Check QuickBooks Desktop Sales Tax Setup
- In QuickBooks Desktop, open Lists > Item List.
- Filter for Sales Tax Item and Sales Tax Group.
- Validate that sales tax items correspond to state and county tax rates as required.
To post the sales tax under the correct QuickBooks sales tax field, follow the steps mentioned below:
1). Navigate to the sales tax settings by going to Connections, then go to Accounting/POS/ERP, and then to Sync Settings. Select Sales Tax.
2). Enable the option "Let QuickBooks recalculate the sales tax" to ensure sales post under the correct QuickBooks sales tax field.
3). Enable the option to post taxable and non-taxable items based on their respective tax codes.
