How to Update Webgility and Reauthorize Shopify Sales Channel

This article helps Webgility Desktop users maintain optimal performance and compatibility in Webgility Desktop by guiding them through the process of updating the application and reauthorizing their Shopify channel connection. It is especially useful after updates to ensure seamless integration with the Shopify sales channel.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Check Your Current Version of Webgility

  1. Open Webgility Desktop and click Login.

  2. Navigate to Help > Terms and Privacy.

  3. In the About Webgility window, verify your current version.


2. Update Webgility Desktop

  1. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

  2. In the Webgility Update window:

    • If a new version is available, it will display.

    • Ensure the checkbox “Take Webgility database backup before proceeding with the update” is selected.

  3. Choose a backup location when prompted and wait for the backup to complete.

  4. The Webgility Installer will launch automatically to begin the update.

  5. Once complete, Webgility will return to the Login screen. Log in again.

  6. The application will update the database (if needed) and load the dashboard.

  7. To confirm the update, go to Help > Terms and Privacy and verify the version number has changed.

✅ Webgility is now successfully updated.


3. Reauthorize the Shopify Sales Channel

This step is necessary if Webgility was previously connected to your Shopify store and your login credentials have changed or expired.

  1. In Webgility, go to Connections > Sales Channel > Manage Sales Channel.

  2. Locate your Shopify store in the list and click to manage it.

  3. Enter your Shopify store URL (e.g., mystore.myshopify.com).

  4. Click Connect to Shopify.

  5. A browser window will open. Log in using your updated Shopify admin credentials.

  6. Once connected, return to Webgility and click Save Store.

  7. Close the configuration window.

  • The “Connect to Shopify” screen may vary slightly based on the sales channel type.

  • Always use the latest Shopify admin credentials during reauthorization.

  • A successful connection will reflect in the dashboard and sync settings.


Troubleshooting

  • If the update fails:

    • Ensure you have admin rights on your system.

    • Retry after rebooting your machine.

  • If reauthorization fails:

    • Double-check the Shopify store URL and credentials.

    • Make sure you’re logged out of any previous sessions in your browser before retrying.
