Part 1: Resolving SQL Connection Disconnected Issues
Why This Happens:
The “SQL Connection Disconnected” error may appear due to:
- SQL Server service being stopped
- Network interruptions
- Maintenance tasks like indexing or backups
Steps to Resolve:
1. Open Windows Services:
- Click Start > Type Services > Press Enter
2. Restart SQL Services:
- Locate: SQL Server (UNIFY) or your instance name
- Right-click > Select Restart
- Also, restart: SQL Server Browser
3. Reopen Webgility Desktop:
- Open Webgility after services are restarted
4. Connect to SQL Server:
- Click: Connect to an existing SQL Server
- Under Locate SQL Server, select:
YourComputerName\UNIFY or YourComputerName\WEBGILITY
5. Use SQL Authentication:
- Choose: Use SQL Server Authentication
- Username: sa
- Password: Webgility2011 (W is capitalized)
- Click Connect
If SQL Server is on another machine:
Use Browse more to load remote SQL instances.
Part 2: How to Update Webgility Desktop
Webgility regularly provides updates that enhance functionality, resolve bugs, and ensure compatibility.
Steps to Update:
- Login to Webgility Desktop
- Go to Help > Terms and Privacy to view your current version
- Click Help > Check for Updates
In the Update Window:
- Review available version
- Ensure "Take database backup before update" is checked
- Choose a save location when prompted
- Let the installer complete the update
- Webgility will reopen and upgrade the database
To confirm:
- Go back to Help > Terms and Privacy
- Check that the new version is listed
Webgility is now updated successfully.
Part 3: How to Remove an Inactive Sales Channel
If you have sales channels that are no longer active, it’s best to remove them for clarity and improved performance.
Steps to Delete a Sales Channel:
- Open Webgility Desktop
- Navigate to Connections > Sales Channels
- Under the list of connected channels:
- Identify the inactive one
- Click the Trash/Delete icon next to it
- Identify the inactive one
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
This helps reduce sync issues and speeds up processing.
