How to Fix Token Errors Preventing Shopify Order Downloads in Webgility Desktop

This article helps Webgility Desktop users troubleshoot errors related to tokens when downloading Shopify orders in Webgility Desktop. It explains how expired, revoked, or invalid authentication tokens often caused by password changes or app reauthorization can prevent orders from downloading properly and provides guidance to resolve these issues.

How to Resolve the Issue

Step 1: Update the Shopify Connection Token

  • Open Webgility Desktop and go to Connections > Manage Stores.

  • Find your Shopify store in the list and click Edit.

  • Follow the prompts to Reconnect your Shopify sales channel.

  • When prompted, log in using the correct Shopify account credentials.

  • Save your changes and exit the connection settings.

Step 2: Test Data Download

  • Navigate to Orders > Download Orders.

  • Start downloading recent orders to confirm the process completes without errors.

Step 3: Verify Recovery of Previously Missing Orders

  • Check if orders that were missed during the token error period are now present in Webgility.

  • If not, manually specify the missing orders’ date range via Orders > Download Orders > Download by Date and try downloading again.

Step 4: Confirm with Your Customer

  • Ask your customer to review their order data for completeness.

  • If any orders from the affected period are still missing, advise them to contact support for further assistance.

Post-Resolution Checklist

  • Customer token has been successfully updated in connection settings

  • No errors occur during order downloads

  • Previously missing orders have been recovered

  • Customer confirms orders are complete and accurate

Additional Notes

  • Updating the token refreshes authentication and restores both current and missed orders.

  • Ensure you’re running the latest version of Webgility Desktop and that Shopify API permissions are up to date.

  • If problems persist, check for software updates or review Webgility error logs for more information.
