How to Fix QuickBooks Desktop Sync Issues After Installing Webgility Desktop Extension on a new machine

This article helps Webgility Online users resolve syncing problems with QuickBooks Desktop that arise after installing Webgility Desktop Extension on a new computer. These issues are often caused by a missing browser extension required for communication between the platforms. The guide explains how to check for, install, and activate the necessary extension.

What Happened

When you switch to a new computer, Webgility Online relies on a small browser extension to keep your QuickBooks data in sync. If that extension isn’t installed or enabled, you might notice orders, products, or refunds not flowing between Webgility and QuickBooks Desktop.



Follow these simple steps to install or update the Webgility Desktop Extension on your computer:

  1. Download the Installer

    First, make sure you have the latest Webgility Desktop Extension installer. Once downloaded, locate the folder and double-click the WebgilityExtensionInstallerfile.

  2. Run the Installer
    Click Run when prompted.

  3. Follow the Installation Wizard
    The setup wizard will begin. If asked whether you want to reinstall, click Yes.

  4. Accept the License Agreement
    When the license agreement appears, select "I accept the agreement," then click "Next."

  5. Choose Installation Location
    You can use the default location provided. Click Next to proceed.

  6. Confirm Folder Selection
    Click Yes when asked to confirm the folder location.

  7. Confirm Start Menu Folder
    Click Next to accept the default start menu folder.

  8. Create a Shortcut (Optional)
    To add a desktop shortcut, leave the Create a desktop shortcut box checked. Otherwise, uncheck it and click Next.

  9. Review Settings
    On the final screen, review your selections. If needed, use the Back button to make changes. When you're ready, click Install. Installation typically takes 3–5 minutes.

  10. Launch the Extension
    Leave the Launch Webgility Desktop Extension box checked and click Finish.

  11. Click on Manual Sync Now from the system tray, and observe that the data will start synching.
