If you're syncing products from Square POS to QuickBooks Online using Webgility Online and can’t select “Inventory” as the item type, the issue is likely due to your QuickBooks subscription plan. Here's how to enable inventory item sync by ensuring the right plan and refreshing your Webgility connection.
Why This Happens
QuickBooks Online’s Simple Start and Essentials plans don’t support inventory tracking. To create and sync inventory items, your account must be on the Plus or Advanced plan.
How to Enable Inventory Item Sync
1. Check Your QuickBooks Plan

Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin

Go to ⚙ > Account and Settings > Billing & Subscription

Make sure your plan is Plus or Advanced
2. Upgrade if needed.

If you're on Simple Start or Essentials, click Upgrade

Follow the prompts to switch to a plan that supports inventory tracking
3. Reconnect QuickBooks in Webgility Online

Go to Connections

Click Disconnect

Then, Connect again and re-authorize with your upgraded QuickBooks account

Webgility will refresh and detect the new capabilities
4. Sync Products with Inventory Type

In Webgility, go to Products > Product Catalog.

Start mapping a product from Square POS

You should now see and be able to select "Inventory" or "Non-Inventory" as the item type

Try clearing your browser cache or logging out and back into Webgility

Make sure QuickBooks shows your upgraded plan before reconnecting
