How to diagnose and resolve performance slowdowns in Webgility Desktop

This article helps Webgility Desktop users diagnose and resolve performance slowdowns in Webgility Desktop by using the System Matrix to monitor key system resources such as RAM, disk space, CPU usage, and database performance.

Causes of Performance Issues

  • High RAM or CPU usage by other applications

  • Low available disk space

  • Database performance degradation

  • Webgility application overload

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access the System Matrix

  • Open Webgility Desktop.

  • Click the Performance Icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

2. Understand the Status Indicators

  • Green = System is performing well.

  • Red = Performance issue detected.

  • The icon itself turns red if any metric is out of range; otherwise, it stays grey.

3. Troubleshoot Each Metric

Memory (RAM):

  • If flagged red, open Task Manager and review RAM usage.

  • Close unused applications or browser tabs to free memory.

Disk Available (Main):

  • If in red, free up system space:

    • Run Windows Disk Cleanup.

    • Delete unused files or uninstall unnecessary programs.

CPU Usage:

  • If CPU is high, again use Task Manager to check which processes are consuming resources.

  • End unneeded tasks or restart your PC.

Database (DB) Performance

If the Database status is flagged in red, follow the steps below to optimize performance using the DB Utility:

  1. Click Open DBUtility from the System Matrix window.

  2. When prompted, close the Webgility application completely.

  3. Click Yes, Run DBUtility to begin the optimization.

  4. Allow the utility to finish running. This process helps enhance the database’s speed and performance.

⚠️ Warning: If your Webgility database size is larger than 5GB, do not run the DB Utility. Running it on large databases may cause data corruption or extended downtime.

Note:

  • Always close Webgility before running the DB Utility.

  • Run the utility periodically if you manage large order volumes or frequent syncs.
