Error: "Payment Creation Failed" while posting Amazon settlement report or Shopify Payout

This article helps Webgility Desktop users understand and resolve the error message “Payment Creation Failed” that appears while posting an Amazon Settlement Report or Shopify Payout in Webgility Desktop. This error typically occurs during the final step of syncing, Posting Payments, when Webgility attempts to create and apply payment entries in QuickBooks. The issue is often related to outdated QuickBooks data in Webgility or incorrect expense-mapping settings within the application. When the required accounts or mappings are missing, outdated, or improperly configured, Webgility is unable to complete the payment creation process. This article guides users through downloading the latest QuickBooks data, verifying expense and fee mappings, and retrying the posting process to successfully complete the sync.

Cause of the issue:

While syncing the Amazon Settlement Report or Shopify Payout Report on the last step, Posting Payments, the user might face this error.

 


Steps to resolve:

  • First, we need to download the latest QuickBooks Data in Webgility. Navigate to Connections and go to Get Latest Data and Settings, download QuickBooks Data.

  • Navigate to Connections, go to Accounting, then Sync Settings, and Expenses and Fees.

  • Verify the Setup for all the Expenses Groups (Expenses & Refunds), open Setup, verify the selected accounts and click on Save, do the same for all the expenses group types.

  • Once all the Expenses Groups are verified, click on Save & Close and re-try posting the report.
